1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.” 2. I will respond by asking you 5 questions of a very personal nature. 3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions. 4. You will include this and an offer to interview someone else in the post. 5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them 5 questions. Current Mood: tired

05:33 pm - A No Go I went to hospital for the CT scan, and everything was going well...until I was asked for $68.50 up front (what medicare doesn't pay). I didn't have it, and asked about being billed and paying in increments--but no, got the lecture about hospitals having to close if they aren't paid in full when they need it.
Then one nice person took me to an office and gave me a form to take home and mail back in to see if I qualified for some program that would let me have services there for 6 months. So, CT scan postponed.
However, I did have blood drawn (a lot of blood drawn, for mega evals). I'm glad I got that over with, anyway.
Thanks to everyone who gave me good wishes.

Wasps. They serve no useful purpose whatsoever, and only serve to vex us.

06:57 pm - Here we go again The fringe of Ike is headed our way--the "dirty", as they call it, part. TV is forecasting winds up to 70 m.p.h., power outages, tornadoes, flooding, etc.
Since this storm is MUCH bigger than Gustav, and since I've made no preparations at all, I don't think I'll get off scot free this time. Current Mood: concerned

05:01 pm - Disco Inferno I got my CD of Saturday Night Fever today! (Once upon a time I had the album, but years, lovers, and moves caused the loss of it).
I'd forgotten how much I loved that soundtrack. Nonie bird and I sang and chirped and danced our way through it. What fun! (Beird, being much more sedate, merely watched us).
Long live 1977! Current Mood: chipper

10:07 pm - O.K. Bottom Line It seems that some on my flist cannot understand why I am not voting in this Presidential election. Though I have tried to explain some of my reasons, they still cannot comprehend why I cannot bring myself to vote for either candidate. So, I am going to explain this in the simplest terms I know how:
I do not like Obama.
I do not like McCain.
End of story. Current Mood: annoyed

11:15 am - Fair and Accurate Reporting If the following were true, I'd admit Obama deserved to be president:
The ultimate objective in journalism is to deliver fresh information to the audience, to break heretofore unshattered stories.
Last night, ABC's Terry Moran did exactly that.
To get there, you must first wade through an extraordinary amount of Moran-Goo, as he slathers it liberally all over his reporting of the official nomination vote. But this is hardly groundbreaking. What comes next is.
The excited media throngs have already long hailed Illinois Senator Barack Obama for being the first bi-racial candidate ever to secure a major Party's nomination for President.
Moran yesterday added to the historic aura surrounding the Senator's parents.
To quote Mr. Moran, Sen. Obama is "the son of a black man from Kenya, and a white man from Kansas."
To again quote Mr. Moran, this "is a moment for the history books." This certainly is.
To parahrase Mr. Moran soon thereafter, "Oops." Current Mood: amused

06:13 pm - Rain, Rain, Go Away I haven't floated away...yet. Gustav stalled out as a tropical storm here. What winds we had manifested last night; today, tomorrow, and Thursday nothing but rain. Of course, there is the danger of flooding, and much of Shreveport is without power--but it could have been much worse.
Now there's Hannah, a potential threat to some of you on my flist, and Ike, and Josephine... God, I'll be glad when hurricane season is over!
Thanks to you who kept the South in your thoughts and prayers--it worked!

01:24 pm - OOPS Lost another LJ friend--no explanation. But perhaps I'm simply explanation enough...
Gustav is heading our way--probably first wave tonight. It is already cloudy and the wind has picked up. I'll probably have massive leaks and flooding as I had when Rita came through 3 years ago.
Please keep all the folks down South in your thoughts and prayers.
